FAQS FOR 0% GOODS AND SERVICES TAX (GST) EFFECTIVE 1ST JUNE 2018

GENERAL

In accordance to the media release by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) dated 16 May 2018, the 6% GST (Goods & Services Tax) that is levied on all supplies of goods and services in Malaysia, including imports, becomes 0% effective 1st June 2018. There is no requirement for the GST registration number of XOX to be stated on the receipt.

  1. Will the Goods and Services Tax (GST) be replaced by the Sales and Services Tax (SST)?

  2.          Please refer to the MOF website for any official announcement.

  3. Is 0% GST applicable to all Malaysians and non-Malaysians alike come 1st June 2018?

  4.          All telecommunication charges are subjected to GST; effective 1st June 2018, GST will be rated at 0%; this is applicable for both Malaysians and
             foreigners.

  5. I live in duty-free zone i.e. Langkawi, Labuan and Tioman. Will I be impacted with the revision of GST from 6% to 0%?

  6.          With this revision, you also enjoy 0% GST.

BLACK

  1. Effective 1st June 2018, when I register for a new line, will I be charged GST?

  2.          No GST is charged on new registration for BLACK.
             Therefore, new sign up and pre-payment will remain the same.

  3. Will there be any changes in my monthly bill once the 0% GST takes effect on 1 June 2018?

  4.          No changes. Services and usage before 1st of June 2018 which have been charged 6% GST, will be given “XOX Rebates” in your bill statement.
             Moving forward, your monthly bill will rated at 0% GST for services.

    Example of how the calculation of BLACK B10:

    Monthly commitment plan RM10.00
    6% GST RM0.60
    XOX Rebate(6%) RM0.60
    To pay total of RM10.00

  5. Are there any changes to the items that are subjected to GST and those which are exempted from GST?

  6.          All telecommunication usages including additional usage, Value Added Services (VAS) are subjected to GST and it
             will be rated at 0% effective 1st June 2018.

ONEXOX (PREPAID)

  1. How much do prepaid customers have to pay for a new prepaid starter pack from 1 June 2018 onwards?

  2.          The price of prepaid starter pack remains RM10 inclusive of 0% GST and it comes with a preloaded credit of RM5.30.

  3. What will my top-up amount be after the 0% GST implementation?
  4.          All top-up after the 1st of June will not be deducted 6% GST.
             Any top-up done will be credited in full into the subscriber’s account.

CONSUMER POSTPAID / HYBRID

  1. Will there be any changes in my monthly bill once the 0% GST takes effect on 1 June 2018?

  2.          Yes, if you have services and usage until 31st May 2018, your bill will be prorated based on May 2018 calendar month which 31 calendar days.
             For example, your bill starts from 15th to 31st May 2018 as illustrated below:

    Monthly Commitment RM50.00
    Calendar Days 17 Days
    Prorated 6% GST RM1.65
    Calculation : (RM50/31days) x 6% RM0.0966

SEASON PASS

  1. Will my SEASON PASS Purchase be affected by the 0% GST?

  2.          Effective 1 June 2018, any purchased using MYXOX apps/Online store will be at rated at 0%.
             No GST will charged when subscriber purchase any Happy Hour from their airtime/credit balance in the subscriber account.

HAPPY HOUR

  1. Will HAPPY HOUR be affected by the 0% GST?
  2.          Effective 1 June 2018, any purchased using MYXOX apps/Online store will be at rated at 0%.
             No GST will charged when subscriber purchase any Happy Hour from their airtime/credit balance in the subscriber account.

XOX VALUE ADDED SERVICES (GST)

  1. Will Value Added Services (VAS) be affected by the 0% GST?
  2.          Effective 1 June 2018, any purchased will be at rated at 0%.
